Admissions Essays: Your Ticket to College

Gaining entrance to college is a very complicated undertaking. Too often, though, applicants do not appreciate the intricacies of the task, leaving many things until the last minute. The admissions essay is one of those things.

The unfortunate thing is that college admissions staff pay incredibly close attention to the answers. They want to see originality, a spark, something that makes a given student stand out. And so the kinds of answers that might be classified as a dime a dozen tell them that a particular applicant is, well, a dime a dozen. And they are disregarded, despite whatever other qualifications they might possess.

Don't allow yourself to end up in the college applicant slush pile. Make the admissions essay a top priority. Take time, go through multiple drafts, have your friends and family critique it, and then do it all over again.
