Good research paper topics.

Yes, it is this topic again. We receive so many questions, inquiries, and orders, from students whose essential problem is that they just don’t know how to select a topic and approach.

There are a few areas to consider, but one of the most important things is to do more than just sort of think about it while you watch reruns of Masterchef. Get a pen/cil and some paper, and write down answers or ideas in these areas.

  • What topics in the class did the professor spend the most time on or get most excited about?

  • What topics in the last did you like best (or hate least)?

  • What is your major, or  your favorite aspects of your major?

You can use your answers to these questions to do research at your library and in its databases. For example, if the professor was really into manufacturing in China, you most liked cross-cultural business practices, and your major is education, then your search might be:

  • China AND manufacturing AND culture AND education

Then you can review the results of your search. From there, you can see that you might write a paper on teaching cross cultural business practices in schools.

If your searches are coming up empty, go to your library or call the reference department. Tell the reference librarian what you are doing, and ask them for better search terms. For example, if you had searched for Chinese AND industry AND society AND teaching, you would probably not get very good results. Your school librarian can help you choose the best search terms and get better results.
