Why You Should Not Skimp on the Education Part of your College Education
Good morning,
I'd like to pick up a bit where Kate left off yesterday and talk about the financial aspects of a college education. It's a tough economiy right now -- everyone in the world knows that -- and so it can seem to make a lot of sense to start cutting back on educational expenses. Hell, many people decide not to go at all, which makes no sense whatsoever given that a college education is your best bet in hard times. But I'm not talking to those people right now, I'm talking to those people who are already in college and plan to stay there but are figuring out where to cut corners.
Unfortunately, most of the corners students tend to want to cut are directly related to the quality of their educations. Most students won't say hey, I'll order a few less pizzas or go to fewer movies. No, they'll tend to decide to not purchase the optional books for their classes, or they will forego tutoring services and model papers and all the other educational aids that have helped them so much.
Well, I'm here to say do not do that! OK, life is more bearable when you can break out and see a concert every now and then, but your whole point of being in school is to get that education. I don't care if this makes me sound like a doddering old man (which by the way I am not, not yet anyway) because it is true. You will regret it if you turn your college education into a mere piece of paper once you hit the real world and find oh yeah, those professors really were trying to teach me things that I need on the job, but hey, I was too busy eating pizza to pay attention.
I'm not trying to be mean, just make a point. Suck it up and do what you gotta do now. Put your money in the places where it will benefit you in the long run, not just for the moment. You have many years ahead of you -- don't you want to make the most of them? By focusing upon getting that excellent college education, and by using all of the tools at your disposal to make the most of your college years, including tutoring services and academic writing services when necessary, you will position yourself ahead of the pack once you hit the resume circuit. And that's what it's all about.
